Hey there. I’m Angela.
My first time spent in Glen Arbor, Michigan was in 1978 while still in the womb. I like to say that it’s quite literally “in my blood.” My mom and a group of her friends had traveled to the area for a tennis clinic, and immediately knew they wanted to spend more time in Leelanau County than just a few weekends here and there throughout the year. They came home and convinced their husbands of the unbelievable beauty they’d experienced, and the rest is history. In the early 1980’s, my parents and two of their friends purchased a condo together in The Homestead Resort.
Being from Indiana, I was fortunate enough to live in this area almost every summer of my childhood, teenage, and college years, and my love for Leelanau formed at a very young age, always holding all of my favorite childhood memories. I would run freely down the beach, float the river, climb the dunes, relentlessly paint sunsets from our deck, always longed to come back after we left to return home, and even wrote my college entrance essay about how important this incredible part of the world is to me. When I was in college, I dreamed of working for Traverse Magazine, writing and taking photographs, and in 2010, after years practicing social work, I moved to Traverse City to make part of this dream happen. A photography class in high school had piqued my interest in the art, and I haven’t looked back since I made my way north full time. This journey landed me here, living in Glen Arbor throughout the year, chasing sunrises, sunsets, and everything in between. Sometimes I can be found lugging around my camera in snow boots, and others, iphone-ography in my pajamas it is. It’s whatever the moment brings. There isn’t a season or variation in weather that isn’t beautiful and I’ll do whatever I can to be part of it.
A lifetime of my love for Leelanau has been thrown in to everything I do and I’m incredibly humbled to share it with you. I hope you enjoy seeing life through my little lens.
